There is a new strain of SARS COV 2 or the virus that causes covid 19 that has been detected here in the Philippines it is possible that it is contagious according to Philippine Genome Center (PGC).
In the report of the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) that detected in the Philippines the new mutation of SARS COV 2 the virus caused by COVID-19, it is said that the mutation occurred in one of the amino acids 614 that changed from variant P and became Varient G hence it is called D614G.
It is a small thing at first glance, but it has a big effect because the protein of the virus has changed, these are the using parts that the virus uses to enter the human cells.
D614G is the dominant strain of the virus that is now spreading around the world, says the Philippine Genome Center (PGC, which says the viral RMA contained in D614G is higher, meaning that people infected with it are more quickly to infect to other.
This is also what appeared in the article of the World Health Organization where it is said that almost all strains that mutate in D614G have a faster replication speed, although it confirms that the COVID-19 sub type D614G is in the Philippines.
It is not yet clear what the status of the Virus mutation in the country, especially all the samples examined by the experts are only from Quezon City, Philippines.
There is also no observable change in the clinical outcome or condition of the patient, infectious disease Dr. Rontgene Solante said, the mutation of a virus is natural and normal, according to Dr. Rontgene Solante seven current SARS COV 2 subtypes are the most common S subtype from Wuhan China, followed by the G subtype common in North America.
Recommendation by Dr. Rontgene Solante needs more careful monitoring of virus mutations, it is also said that it is better to have surveillance elsewhere to find out the status of virus mutation elsewhere.
