Some Senators: PhilHealth has favoritism in providing INTERIM REIMBURSEMENT MECHANISM (IRM) assistance to other hospitals

According to report the Southern Philippine Medical Center in Davao City, got the biggest claim amounting to Three Hundred Twenty Si Million Pesos (P326,000,000.00) while other hospitals have not received even a one peso even though they have been able to submit their claim for several months.

PhiliHealth as well as the department of health explained. 

Philhealth has released almost one billion five hundred thousand pesos under the Interim Reimbursement Mechanism (IRM) assistance to hospitals now with pandemics.

The Department of Health explained why the SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES MEDICAL CENTER was the largest claimed of PhilHealth. 

Below is the explanation of DR. MARIA ROSARIO S. VERGEIRE why the SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES MEDICAL CENTER is the top highest claimed in PhilHealth:

"Ang SPMC ay 1,200 beds hospital, so comparing it in the other hospitals ito na talaga yong pinakamalaking hospitals na mayron tayo, and they cater to a lot of cases, even specialized cases, they are tring to prime this hospital to one of the leaders in Asia, kung sakaling mas mataas, baka yon ay kadahilanan ng kalakihan ng kanilang hospital , maraming beds, maraming pasyent, pangalawa, high technology rin sila."

English Translation: 

"SPMC has 1,200 beds hospital, so comparing it to the other hospitals it is actually the largest hospitals we have, and they cater to a lot of cases, even specialized cases, they are tring to prime this hospital to one of the leaders in Asia, in case it is higher, it may be due to the size of their hospital, many beds, many patients, secondly, they are also high technology".

But according to PhilHealt CEO and President Ricardo Morales, not only 1,500 bed capacity but 1,800 beds, compared to UP-PGH's 1,500 beds.

If the Palace is asked, there is no visible irrigation in the allocation of the SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES MEDICAL CENTER (SPMC) to the INTERIM REIMBURSEMENT MECHANISM (IRM), it is said the largest hospital in the whole country, with 3,600 personnel, it is also said to have the largest PhilHealth claim because it serves the whole of Mindanao. 

At the senate hearing, PhilHealth said that 505 private hospitals have been given INTERIM REIMBURSEMENT MECHANISM (IRM) compared to 206 government hospitals.

But senators commented there were

favoritism in providing INTERIM REIMBURSEMENT MECHANISM (IRM),  in region 6 for example, April 8 issued an  INTERIM REIMBURSEMENT MECHANISM (IRM) claim but until now it will not claimed even one peso. 

CEO and PhilHealth president answer this issue, according to him:

"Regarding region 6 ang masisi natin dyan ay si atty. Val Huliro, na sya ang regional vice president doon na aking pina follow up kung bakit mabagal ang pag proces ng kanyang INTERIM REIMBURSEMENT MECHANISM (IRM) , actually June lang yata na process yong kanyang INTERIM REIMBURSEMENT MECHANISM (IRM) ako ho ang nag assign kay atty.Huliro doon at pina follow up ko sya".
